It started with a family who was new to the neighborhood.
In 1958, Lawrence and Dorothy Stoffel moved with their two boys from West Seattle to the Lake Sawyer area. Back then, this looked very different from the community we know today. There wasn't a church nearby, and the Stoffels began wondering if other families around the lake might be looking for the same thing they were—a place to gather, build relationships, and grow in faith. So Dorothy started calling her neighbors...
Those conversations eventually became Saturday night Bible studies in the Stoffels' log cabin. And people came. Sometimes as many as 60 people crowded into their home at once. By that fall, regular Sunday gatherings had begun.
Lake Sawyer Church was born out of a simple desire to serve the people who lived here.
More than 65 years later, that still sounds a lot like us.

Today a lot has changed, but the heart behind it hasn't.
In 2018, Mike Ferrulli became Lake Sawyer's Lead Pastor, and the following year we put simple words around the mission that drives us today:
