FIVE HILLS we fight for

Simply calling these “values” doesn’t cut it. All too commonly, values have come to signify mushy, sentimental ideals for which we rarely fight for. We call them the five hills we fight for. As a church, we believe that if something is worth living for, it is worth  fighting for. We realize we can’t do everything—but what we, as a community, are called by God to do, we do with excellence.

THE HILL OF

JESUS CENTERED

Lake Sawyer is a place for people on every part of the spiritual journey, from those just  investigating whether there is a God to those who have made following Jesus the priority of  their life. We don’t assume everyone believes, or even knows Jesus, but we do assume everyone who comes through our doors is  open to exploring Him. Jesus is the essence of who we are and everything we do (Colossians 1:15-20 ) .

THE HILL OF

RELATIONALLY DRIVEN

We recognize the profound significance of relationships in shaping the fabric of our community and in fulfilling our mission. We approach everything we do with a focus on fostering and nurturing meaningful connections. Whether in worship,  service, or outreach, our commitment to being relationally driven shapes our decisions and actions. We believe that by placing relationships at the forefront, we create a vibrant and inclusive community that reflects the love of Christ (Hebrews 10:24-25).

THE HILL OF

UNCOMMON LOVE

We believe God loved the world deeply, so we do the same without any form of prejudice. We love freely and frequently with no strings attached. This goes beyond ordinary kindness and care, but a radical, selfless, and transformative love. One that permeates all aspects of our lives. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8 )

THE HILL OF

OPEN-HANDED GENEROSITY

We’re often tempted to close our fingers around what we have, operating from a posture of greed and fear rather than contentment and courage. As a church, we commit to open our hands on purpose. God, who gives to us so generously, wants us to reflect his generosity with an openhanded lifestyle of our own. This posture is bigger than our finances,—our open-handedness extends to everything in our lives—our time, our energy, our talent, our family, you name it.  (Deuteronomy 15:8 ) .

THE HILL OF

MULTIPLYING INFLUENCE

Multiplication is about recognizing something that God has created and then reproducing it in his name. Lake Sawyer wants to be a place where Christ-followers produce Christ-followers, leaders produce leaders, and churches produce other churches. (Matthew 28:19-20 ).
